Policies

Wholesale and export orders placed with AFAM International are confirmed upon mutual agreement of product specifications, quantity, pricing, and shipping terms. All wholesale products supplied under AFAM are processed, packed, and dispatched from Ethiopia through AMG Coffee’s certified facilities under direct dealership authorization.

Wholesale order cancellations are accepted only before production scheduling or logistics allocation. Once processing, packing, or export documentation has commenced, cancellations are not permitted due to supply chain commitments and international shipping arrangements.

Refunds for wholesale and export coffee orders are considered only in the event of verified company-side quality defects, documentation errors, or shipment discrepancies. No refunds are issued for buyer preference changes, market conditions, or transit delays beyond carrier control. Where applicable, refunds are processed via bank transfer within a maximum of 10 working days following claim approval.

Processing & Export Infrastructure

All Harrar coffee supplied through AFAM International DMCC is sourced and exported by AMG Coffee Ethiopia, which operates coordinated dry-processing, grading, and export preparation systems within Ethiopia. Coffee is sourced from smallholder farms across the eastern Ethiopian highlands through organized supply networks and ECX-registered channels where applicable. Due to the region’s dry climate, cherries are primarily sun-dried at origin before undergoing final cleaning, density separation, moisture control, and export calibration at dedicated facilities in Addis Ababa. Supporting agricultural processing infrastructure is maintained in Adama, approximately 100 km from the capital. The export system supports annual handling capacity of up to 28,800 metric tons, enabling dependable bulk supply and shipment continuity for wholesale buyers.

Harrar Origin – Climate Influence & Coffee Behaviour

The Harrar region lies in eastern Ethiopia and is defined by low annual rainfall, warm daytime temperatures, and open drying conditions. Unlike high-altitude, wet-processed regions, Harrar’s environment naturally supports dry processing, shaping both bean structure and flavour development. Coffee cultivation in Harrar is largely smallholder-based, with cherries dried whole under the sun rather than washed. This method concentrates sugars within the bean and contributes to heavier body and intensified flavour expression. In the cup, Harrar coffee typically shows bold fruit character, wine-like depth, earthy undertones, and low perceived acidity, with a dense, lingering finish. The profile favours intensity and weight over clarity, making it suitable for darker roast expressions and traditional brewing preferences.
