Policies

Wholesale and export orders placed with AFAM International are confirmed upon mutual agreement of product specifications, quantity, pricing, and shipping terms. All wholesale products supplied under AFAM are processed, packed, and dispatched from Ethiopia through AMG Coffee’s certified facilities under direct dealership authorization.

Wholesale order cancellations are accepted only before production scheduling or logistics allocation. Once processing, packing, or export documentation has commenced, cancellations are not permitted due to supply chain commitments and international shipping arrangements.

Refunds for wholesale and export coffee orders are considered only in the event of verified company-side quality defects, documentation errors, or shipment discrepancies. No refunds are issued for buyer preference changes, market conditions, or transit delays beyond carrier control. Where applicable, refunds are processed via bank transfer within a maximum of 10 working days following claim approval.

Processing & Export Infrastructure

All Bale coffee supplied through AFAM International DMCC is sourced and exported by AMG Coffee Ethiopia, which manages washing stations, dry mills, grading units, and export preparation facilities within Ethiopia. Coffee sourcing is carried out through smallholder farms across the Bale highlands, supported by cooperative networks and ECX-registered channels where applicable. Primary processing is completed near origin, while final moisture stabilization, density separation, and export calibration are performed at dedicated facilities in Addis Ababa. Additional agricultural processing infrastructure is maintained in Adama, approximately 100 km from the capital. The export system supports annual handling capacity of up to 28,800 metric tons, ensuring continuity of supply, lot reliability, and contract stability for wholesale buyers.

Bale Origin – Highland Climate & Coffee Behaviour

The Bale region lies in southeastern Ethiopia and is strongly influenced by the Bale Mountains, creating a cool highland climate with large diurnal temperature shifts. These conditions slow cherry development and encourage higher internal bean density compared to lower-altitude zones. Coffee cultivation in Bale is predominantly smallholder-based, with farms situated on open highland terrain rather than forested systems. This exposure, combined with cooler nights, produces coffees with firm structure and controlled flavour development. In the cup, Bale coffee typically shows clean sweetness, subtle stone-fruit or cereal tones, medium acidity, and a structured, composed body. The profile emphasises definition and balance rather than fruit intensity or heavy weight, making it adaptable across light-to-medium roast applications.
