Wolayta

Wolayta coffee beans are 100% Ethiopian Arabica beans grown in the Wolayta Zone of southern Ethiopia, a region known for intensive smallholder farming and consistent agricultural output. Supplied as green coffee beans and roasted coffee beans in export-grade Gute bags, Wolayta coffee is selected for its uniform bean structure, low flavour volatility, and dependable extraction behaviour for wholesale and commercial coffee programs.

Policies

Wholesale and export orders placed with AFAM International are confirmed upon mutual agreement of product specifications, quantity, pricing, and shipping terms. All wholesale products supplied under AFAM are processed, packed, and dispatched from Ethiopia through AMG Coffee’s certified facilities under direct dealership authorization.

Wholesale order cancellations are accepted only before production scheduling or logistics allocation. Once processing, packing, or export documentation has commenced, cancellations are not permitted due to supply chain commitments and international shipping arrangements.

Refunds for wholesale and export coffee orders are considered only in the event of verified company-side quality defects, documentation errors, or shipment discrepancies. No refunds are issued for buyer preference changes, market conditions, or transit delays beyond carrier control. Where applicable, refunds are processed via bank transfer within a maximum of 10 working days following claim approval.

Processing, Export & Supply Chain

All Wolayta coffee supplied through AFAM International DMCC is sourced and exported by AMG Coffee Ethiopia, which operates export-grade washing stations, dry mills, grading units, and quality control systems within Ethiopia. Coffee is aggregated from organized smallholder networks across the Wolayta Zone through cooperative structures and ECX-registered supply channels where applicable. Primary processing is completed near origin, followed by final moisture stabilization, density sorting, and export preparation at dedicated facilities in Addis Ababa. Supporting agricultural processing infrastructure is maintained in Adama, approximately 100 km from the capital city. The integrated export system supports high-volume, repeatable supply, making Wolayta coffee suitable for long-term wholesale contracts and institutional buyers.

Origin Entity: Wolayta Zone, Southern Ethiopia

The Wolayta Zone is located in southern Ethiopia and is characterized by dense population, intensively managed farmland, and short, predictable harvest cycles. Coffee cultivation in this region is fully integrated into smallholder agricultural systems, where coffee is grown alongside staple crops under controlled land use. Unlike forest-based or high-altitude specialty regions, Wolayta coffee develops under conditions that favor uniform cherry ripening, stable moisture content, and repeatable bean density. These agronomic traits translate directly into consistent roasting performance and low batch-to-batch variation. In the cup, Wolayta coffee typically delivers soft sweetness, grain and cocoa-adjacent notes, low perceived acidity, and a rounded, practical mouthfeel. The profile is intentionally neutral-leaning, optimized for reliability rather than sensory extremes.
